LF: Tell us about your self.
KB: My name is Katherine Bogle, though most people call me Kat. I’m an author and a designer, and I love what I do!
LF: You write YA, Fantasy, Sci-fi and even LGBT. Tell us more about your series.
KB: I have two main series right now. The first is a YA Fantasy series of standalone novels. It’s called Chronicles of Warshard and each book is about a different character at a different point in time, with some crossover characters. It’s all set in the same world and builds up to one final conflict. Though there are LGBT characters throughout the series, the last book’s main character is a lesbian. I love writing diverse characters, so it was great to showcase three very different women throughout their struggles.
My second series which currently has 3 books out, and will be finished later this year with book 4, is an adult science fiction series. It’s called the Dominion Rising series. It’s based on Earth about 300 years into the future after an apocalyptic event that forced aliens who’d been watching Earth to intervene. It has an awesome cast of characters who remind me a bit of the Firefly crew. This series needs to be read from start to finish, and can’t be read in just any order like my fantasy series.
I do have a 3rd series starting at the end of August, and it’ll be an adult fantasy series with steampunk elements. The first book is called Queen of Thieves, and damn am I excited for it!
LF: You are self-published but you work with Patchwork Press. Could you give us more details about this?
KB: Though I am self-published, I work with a group of authors called Patchwork Press. We’re simply a small group that publishes under the same name. We help each other out when we can, and some of us are great friends. We all support each other, and that is the main purpose for the group.
LF: What are you currently working on?
KB: I’m currently working on book 3 in the adult fantasy series I mentioned. The series will be called Clockwork Thief, and I’m very excited to share it with the world!
LF: Is this your full-time job or is that a goal you are trying to achieve?
KB: Right now I work as a part-time author, part-time designer. I love both jobs and I think it’d be hard to give up either, but eventually I would like to scale back on the design work and take on writing full-time.
LF: Anything you would like to add?
Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me, Laura! And thank you to the readers for having me as well. Be sure to check out my new series later this summer!
