I am no blogging expert. I am learning as I’m going. Some things I fuck up, somethings I pick up. Most things I just wing it. Either way here 1 thing I’ve learnt as a new book blogger part 4;
Set a goal. Reward yourself.
I set my goal everyday of reading 50% of a book. Now this goal changes depending on the book. Plus other factors. Say the book is a really short read or children’s book, then I make a point of reading 2 or 3 of them, do the reviews and job done. Or a normal sized short book plus some blog stuff like changing layouts, fixing stuff or having to spend ages replying to emails/organizing stuff. Either way my goal can change but normally stays the same.
Sometimes you don’t want to read, or you can’t be arsed and just want to watch some shit or kill some shit on a game. This system I’ve been doing stops me being a lazy cow. It helps me to keep on track with keeping ahead of myself and helps me get through my review requests. (Which are coming out my butt at the moment)
I have a mental conversion with myself and go right, you read 50% of this book and then you can go play that farm game. You do this and that then you can go watch some random YouTube videos. Sometimes this can be good or bad. You feel a rush to get to that 50% depending on how into the book you are. Some days you really want to cheat. When I feel like I want to cheat, then I switch to the short shorts and other things just to give my brain a break. I tend to always find the first 50% of the a book the hardest. I can take me awhile to get into a book, to get into the swing of things. If I get super into the book then it is a completely different story and it doesn’t feel like a ‘goal’ or a chore.
